This six-day tour travels through Licola and then off road to Wonnangatta Station, along the Crooked River, through Dargo and up the mountain to Omeo to the Mountain Cattleman’s Cup. This is a wonderful event where you get to see the real cattleman in action, there is live music, novelty events and plenty of entertainment.  We provide all transport, swags and most meals. 1

Day 1: Departure

We will travel from Traralgon via Licola to the Howitt High Plains where we head off road and down Kelly’s Lane. We will stop for lunch at Kelly’s Hut which is situated on the picturesque Snow Plains which can be a bit chilly. After our lunch break we will travel along the Howitt Road, passed the Snowy Range Airstrip, take a quick stop at Dimmicks Lookout and Howitt Hut before progressing down the steep and challenging Zeka Spur into Wonnangatta Station to set up camp for the night.

Day 2

We pack up and drive down to the Wonnangatta historic homestead site to do some exploring before driving up Wombat Track, onto Cynthia Range Track and into Talbotville for lunch. After a rest and a swim, if the weather is suitable then we will head to the Crooked River Road for our overnight stay.

Day 3

Today we will head through Dargo and along the Upper Dargo Road to the Dogs Grave, a memorial site erected in memory of the early pioneers and their dogs. We will then travel through the Alpine Forest to the township of Omeo. Camping will be at the Mountain Cattleman’s Cup venue. Which provides us with showers and amenities and the opportunity to join in on the festivities.

Day 4

Free day at the Mountain Cattleman’s Cup – enjoy the activities as you please.

Day 5

Today is the final of the Mountain Cattleman’s Cup. See the experienced riders fight for first in their divisions, watch the whip cracking and join in on the fun.

Breakfast and Lunch  provided.

Day 6

After breakfast it will be time to pack up and head home. We will travel via the Omeo Highway back through Lindenow and on to Traralgon.
